What is the difference between powder foundation and pressed powder?

Powder foundation is made to cover like a liquid. It is generally more sheer than liquid foundation and works better with oily skin types. Pressed powder is made to use after your foundation, even though you don't have to use a liquid foundation before pressed powder. Pressed powder is lighter than powder foundation because powder foundation is meant to cover like any other foundation, whereas pressed powder is more like a second step when using liquid foundation.What is the difference between powder foundation and pressed powder?

Pressed powder is just that - powder pressed into a cake. You have to rub an applicator across the cake to loosen and gather the powder to apply it.





Loose powder is ... loose in the box. You use a brush to apply it by gently dragging the brush across the top and then gently tapping it on the side to keep it from ';dripping'; on your clothes while you apply it.





Most powder is translucent and is used to ';set'; makeup and even out tone.





Powder foundation is usually made into a cake of powder mixed with a little moistener that makes it adhere and cover better than the usual powder.
Powder foundation can also be called 'cream to powder foundation' you get it with a sponge and sweep it onto your face, it goes from a very thick, almost like a solid cream and it will glide on like a powder, therefore eliminating the need for a powder on top. However, it can look rather cakey and it only recommneded for skin that needs extreme coverage and still it should be used sparingly.





I personally would go for a liquid foundation applied with a latex sponge and then a light dusting of pressed powder to hold, it looks a lot more natural. Hope I helped!
Powder foundations have color pigments which cover flaws. Pressed powder is mostly transparent but holds your foundation in place for longer periods of time. Hope this helps...
the difference between powder foundation and pressed powder is that powder foundation is powder mixed with pwder and foundation for instance: the powder foundation is liquid into powder. And pressed pwder is the compact powders you see in the drug stores. i think your better off buying powder foundation
You people who answer are all wrong! (Well, most of you) Pressed powder comes in a compact. Powder is loose and you apply it with a brush. But with most pressed powder, you apply it with a little sponge-like thing. I know the wide world of make-up is confusing, but just type in pressed powder under a search engine under pictures to find out more.
